Wow, that's some brave fleas checking out fatty.  Or stupid.

Hi everybody... Jip it's the August/September winds... so the pond is a bit quieter and the animals are definitely more cautious for predators, beacause they can't hear that well! But luckely we've got our daily guests at the pond so there's always entertainment!!!Big Smile

And I'm the only one at the pond for the next few days, Ian will be back when he's releaving me for two days... and that would be somewhere next week... Have a lovely day***

I guess he staked out the joint long enough Wink

    I guess he did!

The heron has been trying to do his yoga, but it seems a bit windy for the outstretched wings part.  His feathers must have blown dry by now, wouldn't you think?

...and the ostrich finally came to get himself a drink, @ 2:28 pm ppt, after two hours of hiding behind the bushes.  The wind really must have made him thirsty...he marched right up, had his drink, and marched right off, very matter-of-fact about the whole thing.  Smile

Took it a while but got a little action.  My pond was acting up so I had to restart and missed it drinking.

No, the ostrich just stayed behind the bushes.

If the wind lets up a bit, we may have more visitors.  I doubt if the wind bothers ellies too much, though, so I'm hoping for them.  Wink

I noticed the ostrich didn't make it very far toward the pond at all.

That's true, it would be.  Might mess up their sense of smell too.

Yes, it is very windy today....you  can hear it whooshing through the microphone quite loudly.  I imagine all the birds today will be having what Rita calls "bad feather days."

I wonder if the wind makes animals a little nervous...it must be difficult to hear if a predator is coming, wouldn't you think?

Hehe, here's little feather ruffling on the professor.

It is windy at the pond.

I wonder why fatty took the trouble to move about a foot and then sit again.  He's something else, hehe.

I noticed that too....do you suppose the fact that the gray heron just strolled by on his hunting expedition has anything to do with it?  Don't look behind you, Fatty...you're being stalked!  LOL!

Fatty was probably waiting on an order for meat lovers pizza.

    You're probably right about that!

I see the grey heron is hunting again....he has developed a taste for extremely large fish in the past few days.  I can't imagine how he gets them down that slender neck, but it seems to be made of spandex or something, because he seems to manage it very nicely!

The sound of the plane woke up my dog, he was very confused, hehe.

Lovely picture of the jackal, kismetmiss!  You found the one moment he was holding still!  It is funny to see the reactions of pets to the Pond...my cats get very curious when they hear George and Gracie....they run all over looking behind things, to find those noisy critters!

Fatty looks very calm and content...and fat!  I watched him swimming around the Pond for a while last night, with his eyes glowing....and wondered if he was waiting for another meal delivery.

    Good Morning!

Ostrich playing hide and seek behind the bushes @ 12:23 pm ppt.  A big gust of wind just came up...rather breezy at the Pond today?  The warthogs have been around, and a few impala, and it sounds like thousands of quelea are singing a song together.

Oh, a jackal!  Racing around with no apparent destination.  Ah, a quick drink next to a warthog who just lay down in his chosen wallowing spot.  And then off again...that jackal is certainly hyperactive this morning!

Plane overhead....the warthog sat up to look around.  Unusual...usually the animals seem to ignore the planes, oddly enough!

Good morning, Nelea!  And Ian too, if he's there...he never posts, so we don't know when he's around.  Ah, that warthog is rolling around again, having himself a fine time!
