    Re: Forum

There really doesn't seem to be much improvement...going from one thread to another takes an incredibly long time, and I just got The Message when I tried to move from Let's Chat to S&S:

Sorry, there was a problem with your last request!

Either the site is offline or an unhandled error occurred. We apologize and have logged the error. Please try your request again or if you know who your site administrator is let them know too.

I have, three times in the last half hour, gotten the same message when trying to refresh.  Just saying....

I am still getting this message:

Sorry, there was a problem with your last request!

Either the site is offline or an unhandled error occurred. We apologize and have logged the error. Please try your request again or if you know who your site administrator is let them know too.

And the forum is still very slow .....

I don't know what just happened but the forum is moving along quite nicely right now. I have been to many threads and posted on some. They may have figured something out..or this is a good glitchSmile

A glitch ! It is still very slow to refresh, and to post.

     Hi Jayelle,

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions. Starting the new thread does not resolve the problems. There are several factors the Tech Team is taking into consideration to get everything back on track. It  just take time and your patience is appreciated.

    Take care,

    Mary

I have now  been unable to get the S&S thread to load for 25 minutes using either browser (Firefox or Safari).  Since other threads on the forum do manage to load, though sluggishly, it seems clear that the software just cannot handle threads with as many as 42,678 postings.  Can't we please archive the S&S thread and start a new one?

Since my last posting in the S&S topic, I have been trying endlessly to get back there, with absolutely NO success! SIGH !

Cleaned all the temporary Internet files, browse history, cache and what have you . . . Did not help one bit, both Firefox, my standard browser and IE7 can not load the S&S pages. The "Sorry error" message keeps coming. That log must be huge by now . . .

This topic took 43 seconds to load. The Index page takes between 35 and 58 seconds (timed today a few times).

    Re: Forum

I keep getting the error message while trying to get into S & S. It is impossible to use this forum. I have a  high speed cable broadband connection. I am sure that most people who have DSL or dail-up have given up on this forum. It is a sad state of affairs for NG to be losing so many posters. Please fix this.

I'm still getting the Sorry error on almost every attempt to refresh or post or to open a thread. The forum is as slow as ever.

    Re: Forum

It just took 1:46 for the Sightings and Sounds thread to load, and 48 seconds for this thread to load.  Though it doesn't make much sense, it appears that the speed is slower and the error messages more frequent during the night when fewer people are accessing the Forum!  The "Sorry" error message says that the error has been logged.  If this is true, can't Melia look at those logs and see when and why the errors are occurring?

     Hi Dutch Eagle Fan,

Thanks for the feedback regarding the forum issues. The Tech Team is troubleshooting the problem to get all up to speed as soon as possible.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Re: Forum

Maybe it is the software of this forum? Maybe NG should try it with phpBB, that has proven to be working excellent! Most forums on the Internet are in this "language".

I managed to post on the S&S topic, but have not been able to get back there since . . . the same error message again and again and again and . . .

I really can't understand why it is so hard to get this forum working properly. IMHO it's not a server problem, it's the software and/or the amount of topics and length of topics.

It is certainly ruining my pleasure in watching the Pond. One can not watch all day, every day, so reading the S&S topic is so important for all of us to keep in touch with what is happening.

People responsible: PLEASE FIX IT !

    Re: Forum

At this point I consider it miraculous when I do get on the forum and am able to refresh without getting the "Sorry Message"

Hope you are able to do something :) I am sure that you are working on it :))

    Re: Forum

This morning has been very frustartating trying to participate on the "Sighting and Sounds" thread. Not only the standard "error" message but trying to reply to a topic I had my this for the first time:

    Not Found: Resource Not Found

The resource you requested does not exist.

Now I can't get back to view the forum with two pages open and trying. Grrrrrrrr so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can get the Sightings and Sounds from the main Forum page, but it opens at page 1 - if I try to get the LAST page, I get the ERROR message.  Could there be too many past pages to upload???

I am still getting the 'Sorry' message when I try to get the Sightings and Sounds Forum.  Hope this can be fixed!  Luckily the Pond is still there, but at the moment without sound - anyone else got no sound?

    Mary

Edit: After posting this message I got the ERROR, but when I finally got the page again, the message is there!!

I'm still having major problems getting into the forum S & S. I have checked my internet speed and it is 11154 kbps. Please do something to make it load faster. TIA

Ok yes I get the error message. If I post then get the message and reload the forum I see my post has posted. This also happens when I post but it keeps 'connecting' but does not post. I reload the forum and my post is already there

Still slow but better than the worst of times...Hang in there, you will figure it out...we have faithBig Smile

I tried several times today to get on to the Sightings thread with NO luck. kept saying there was an error.

    Just now I tried again and WOW, I got in! After 1 minute 47 seconds . . . . . .

The work on the server didn't help much, still think a thorough clean-up of the complete forum would be a better plan.

EDIT: Second try to go back to "Sightings" failed again. SIGH ! This isn't fun anymore.Sad
